E3 2008 Synopsis
It has practically come and gone. Yes, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) started Monday morning and is to end Wednesday. Most of the major annoucements have already been fullfilled (or should i say, unfullfilled) in the press conferences between Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. Here are some of the highlights:

Microsoft:

-
"Fallout 3" will have exlusive DLC

- "Resident Evil 5" announced. Is set to have online two-player coop campaign. Release date set for March 13 2009

Nintendo:

- "Wii Sports Resort" announced for spring 2009. Will have mini games like "Wii Sports" but more related to the beach. Comes bundled with a motion sensor periphreal that increases accuracy with the Wii Remote motion sensing.

- "Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars" announced for the DS

- "Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades" for the DS announced. Same as original, just more songs

- "Wii Music" announced for the Wii. Will be a musical game using different Wii periphreals to play over 50 instruments including piano, saxaphone and more. Will allow for user-created content

Sony:

- "Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty" available on Playstation Network for download for $14.99 this summer

- New downloadable games on PSN: Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic - Pain: Amusement Park - Fat Princess - Crash Commando

-
New PSP bundle announced. Will include "Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters", 1 gig memory stick, "Echochrome" and "National Treasure 2" UMD

- PSN store to have movies available to download for rental or to own. Rentals look to be about $2.99 - $3.99 per rental. To own, around $14.99. Can also be played and downloaded on your PSP

- "Resistance: Retribution" for PSP announced. Will be played in third-person in Spring 2009

- "God of War 3" announced. No gameplay footage shown, just a 20 second trailer

- 80gig PS3 for $399 in September

- New PS3 game called "MAG: Massive Action Game" to have 256 player online battles

And thats it. Nothind truely shocking, almost no games announced. Theres still one day left though. If you would like to discuss E3 in general, talk HERE

E3, free WoW, and maybe free beer...(not)

YAAAAWWWNNN

Man, it's been awhile since I posted a blog update, but due to popular demand (2 people) I'm going to go ahead and write one up now.

E3

Well, its nothing shocking, E3 is making its return on July 14th for a few days. Really, all its good for lately is companies having a chance to announce release dates on games coming out around Christmas. Nonetheless, I look forward to it every year, especially since a few years ago the new Smash Bros game was announced at E3, so I have high hopes for something like that everytime E3 comes around.

As a friendly FYI, Blizzard and Activision will not be attending the event from now on, nor will other small companies like iD. We won't hear any Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2 news until later this year at Blizzcon.

With that said, next week I'm going to post each night the news that was announced that day, along with my personal input. Don't be afraid to comment, I loves reading them, and you can do it annonymosly.

WoW Free Servers

So, I knew about these servers that could run WoW for free (dodging that evil $15 monthly fee) and heard that a few old friends from Ohio use it. A few of us are trying it out, and I'm in the process of reinstalling the game and patching it up to see if its worth anymore of my time than it already took (3 years).

If you're interested, head over to www.wowscape.net and follow the guidelines to getting on the server and joining us.

More Smash, Less "Andys-mom-wont-let-us-come-over-because-she-says- were-too-loud-even-though-its-Daniels-fault"

So, as many of you know, Andy and Josh got a house together, on Almaville Rd. While it's a bit more out of the way than his parents house, we have a lot more freedom over at his place. Hopefully we can coordinate some planned events over there (maybe something other than video games sometimes - cmon you guys are still single...).

That does it for now. Like I said, I'll update almost all next week with fun news about E3.

Mario Kart Wii and more

Mario Kart Wii

Not too much has been said about Mario Kart Wii but that doesn't stop us from being excited about it. The game is set to release on April 27th. The cool part, if you haven't noticed already, is that it comes packaged with a free Wii Wheel. Maybe I can get my parents back into playing games with me, eh?

On another note, it has been reported that "snaking" has been taken out of the game. For those unfamiliar with snaking, its basically when you constantly use your boost even on a straight-away by keeping your kart sliding. Instead, the boost only lasts for as long as you keep sliding.

Smash Bros Brawl

Is everyone enjoying Brawl out there? Good! If you're having some issues with the online capabilities, I wrote a quick post on two possible fixes to make it a bit more bareable. You can read it HERE.

Also, as a quick reminder, don't be shy to add people's Wii Console Codes and Brawl Friend codes! I should also mention that you can only send replays and pictures to friends if you have both the Wii console code and Brawl friend code. I send pictures and replays out everyday, so if you haven't added my Wii Console Code yet, please do!

Brawls US release nears

Yes Ike, we know. But hey, not only can you fight FOR your friends, but you can fight WITH them too! With Brawl's US release nearing, we will soon be able to play online with each other. With that in mind, I recommend you read this thread I posted last week:

Brawl Friend List

This is a link to a thread for all of us to share our Brawl friend codes. However, as I posted inside the thread, do not post any replys until AFTER the game is released on Marth 9th. It also wouldn't hurt to contribute to the Wii Console Code thread either:

Wii Console Code List

That one isn't required for Brawl, but it's nice to have other peoples console codes just in case.

In the next order of business, I would also like to remind everyone about how Brawl's midnight release is going down. I have updated the thread to add specific details on what is happening.

Brawl Midnight Release

Any questions can be asked here on the blog or in any of the threads I've posted above.

See you March 8th!
